Dear Pastor,
My name is Cole Cleveland, and I am the Pastor of Grace Community Baptist Church and the Executive Director of the Oklahoma City Ambassadors. I love sports and the many benefits it provides for young people. I am sure you have noticed how youth athletics is luring thousands of Christian families away from consistent involvement in the local church. The emphasis on athletic development over Christian discipleship is hampering the spiritual development of children and their parents.
The OKC Ambassadors provide a competitive sports alternative that develops players both athletically and spiritually. The Ambassadors are committed to excellence in discipleship and athletics while encouraging families to remain faithful to their local churches. Because of this commitment, the OKC Ambassadors do not play on Sundays and are growing to provide competitive tournaments that serve the community while promoting faithfulness to Christ and His Church.
This spring, we have hosted over two thousand guests at our Saturday-only baseball festivals, viewing each as an opportunity to both share Christ and cultivate a fun and competitive environment for our athletes. Each of the players on our Ambassadors’ teams are taught Biblical truth at every practice and have learned how to share the Gospel with their peers and fellow competitors. It is our dream to expand these festivals into an organized and competitive baseball league played at our own complex.
As we begin our 18th year of ministry we are seeking individual and church partnerships to come alongside our ministry with prayer and financial support. We are also looking for families with young athletes who would like to join us on our mission to use baseball as an excuse to make disciples! We would be honored if you would consider giving as we seek to transform the youth sports culture into a discipleship culture that glorifies God. Your regular financial support will help us expand our ministry as we strive to accomplish our mission—using baseball as an excuse to make disciples and share the Gospel. Please prayerfully consider what you might give to help us further our mission. We are asking the Lord to provide 20 churches to commit to a three-year ministry partnership.
